CDA 12A is a completely denatured alcohol made up of 95% 200 proof ethanol and 5% high purity n-heptane. It is typically used during the plant extraction and cleaning processes. CDA 12A is not subject to the same regulations as 200 proof ethanol because it’s not intended for human consumption. Therefore, CDA 12A incurs no federal excise tax.
